Capture more sales with Extended Content Labels

I was recently on a road trip with my family where we were significantly delayed by some unexpected traffic. When I pulled over to refill the gas tank, all my passengers requested bottled water. When I got to the refrigerated section, there were so many types and sizes from which to choose. I started to do some quick cost comparisons when my eye was drawn to a special offer attached to the bottles of a spring water brand. I grabbed four bottles and was on my way.

Did I pay more than I had to if I’d spent more time running the numbers? Who knows? What I do know is I felt I made a good choice because I used the coupon supplied by the vendor. That is the power of Extended Content labels, aka ECLs.

ECLs are those multi-layer labels where you peel off the front portion to reveal a coupon, promotion or other information. For marketers, they are a great way to draw a customer’s eye to your product and engage them to find out more.

There are lots of ways to incorporate ECLs in to your in-the-moment marketing plans:

  1. Instant redeem coupon – Customers just peel and enjoy savings at the time of purchase. Offer a price reduction, buy one get one, or other deal.
  2. Product promo – Add a recipe or ideas about a new way to use the product.
  3. Cross-branding promo – Partner with a complementary brand to promote an event, contest or sponsorship.
  4. Contest – Add the excitement a peel-and-win or collect-and-win contest to your product.

ECLs can be custom designed to work well with our product packaging, amount of information and budget. Plus, a delivery person can easily add the labels to your product after it’s already on the shelf.
